Mr. Robert DePriest ’86 is a man of many talents and experiences, making him an invaluable part of the Ransom Everglades community. As the Head of Security, he brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his role. Over the course of his career, he served as an FBI agent, working on high-profile cases such as the Pulse Nightclub Shooting and the Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting. Originally a biomedical engineering student whose career path shifted after a football injury, he transitioned to mechanical engineering, where he discovered a new passion. After graduating, he worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before ultimately finding his calling in law enforcement. Now, with both of his children having graduated from Ransom Everglades, Mr. DePriest works tirelessly to ensure that students, staff, and parents feel as safe as possible.
In this podcast, Mr. DePriest and I engage in a meaningful conversation about themes of safety and danger. He shares his hopes for the future while candidly expressing his concerns about security challenges. Although Mr. DePriest may appear as a formidable former FBI agent or the intimidating “Head of Security,” beneath that exterior lies a compassionate individual dedicated to protecting the RE community. He reflects on the challenges of being an FBI agent, offering insights that may change your perspective on what it means to work in security. I am deeply honored to have had the opportunity to interview him.
